I just read that in Germany, it can cost 2000 euros just to get your drivers license! Granted most of that is probably to pay for driving school, which is mandatory... but that's maybe $3000 US dollars!

I'm feeling...: surprisedstill surprised

My high school had around 4 German exchange students every year, and almost all of them got their licenses while in the states... I guess it costs significantly less to have it transfered over...

Plus, them getting it here also meant they could get it before they were 18.

waite a min, $3,000 for your drivers licence? Even if that dose include Driver's ED that's still outragous!

Germany is very strict about their driver licenses. You can't get one until you're 18, and driving school is mandatory. Their driving school is not like Driver's Ed here, it's much more intense instruction. And since it's all private driving schools, there's no cheap class you can take in school (their school system is way different too...).
