My laptop is dead! I want to cry... I tried system recovery and it still won't start up! Someone help me at least save all my pictures?

I have Xp and Windows 7 and can probably save your laptop. If you new a new install all your files will be saved into a new directory. DO NOT CALL A REPAIR MAN, CALL ME FIRST! I just restored my gf's laptop after it was 'dead' and am pretty confident i can do the same for yours.
